Phil Marchant joined P&G’s Research & Development organization in 1988 after studying chemistry at Oxford University. He now leads the company’s global Scientific Communications organization as well as the naturals program for P&G Responsible Beauty.
Over the past 32 years, Phil has worked on a broad range of brands and product categories in the R&D and Communications disciplines. He spent the first six years of his career supporting hair care product development and innovation, with international roles spanning P&G’s Innovation Centers in the UK, Germany and the US. Following this, he led the company’s European Personal Care R&D organization, before moving to Skin Care where he was responsible for launching innovations like Olay Total Effects. Leveraging his unique combination of communications expertise and scientific knowledge – and a passion for story telling – Phil created P&G’s first Scientific Communications discipline in 2000. Today, he still leads this group, which now spans all of P&G’s business categories, with scientific communications experts based all over world.
Phil has also led P&G’s Global Dermatologist Program to both support and learn from scientific experts in the field of dermatology and has spearheaded P&G’s presence at the World Congress of Dermatology since 2002. Most recently, Phil has been a principal partner guiding P&G’s collaboration with the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, a world leader in plant science, and member of the P&G Responsible Beauty Advisory Council.
