Professor Tariq Durrani OBE FREng FRSE
Professor Durrani is Research Professor at the University of Strathclyde, Scotland. From 2000-2006 he was Deputy Principal responsible for Staff Development, Hunter Centre for Entrepreneurship, Centre for Lifelong Learning and the University’s IT and Computing infrastructure.
His research covers communications, signal processing, artificial intelligence and technology management. He has authored 360 publications, supervised 45 PhDs, and held visiting appointments at Princeton, University of Southern California, University of Stirling, and Tianjin Normal University, China.
He has been Co-Chair of the Advisory Board for the UNESCO report on Engineering the UN Sustainable Development Goals. He is a member of the International Committee of the Royal Academy of Engineering and was Vice President (International) Royal Society of Edinburgh 2013-2016.
He has served on numerous IEEE and government Boards and committees, including being President IEEE Engineering Management Society (2006-2007), Vice President IEEE Educational Activities Board (2010-2011), Director of the Glasgow Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Scottish Funding Council.
Professor Durrani is a Fellow of the IEEE, UK Royal Academy of Engineering, Royal Society of Edinburgh, The World Academy of Sciences, and US National Academy of Engineering. In 2003, he was awarded an OBE for services to higher education and electronics research
