Professor Gisbert Schneider
Gisbert Schneider is full Professor of Computer-Assisted Drug Design at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH Zurich) and Director of the Singapore-ETH Centre (SEC) in Singapore. His research focuses on adaptive biosystems and the integration of constructive artificial intelligence into pharmaceutical research and chemical biology. His professional career has led him from the Pharmaceuticals Division at Roche, Switzerland, to academia, initially to the Goethe-University in Frankfurt, Germany, where he held the Beilstein Endowed Chair for Chem- and Bioinformatics, and then to his current position at the ETH Zurich. Before moving to Singapore, he served as Associate Vice President for ETH Global and founded the ETH think-and-do-tank RETHINK for design thinking with artificial intelligence. He is an Elected Fellow of the University of Tokyo, and receipient of the Herman Skolnik Award of the American Chemical Society, and the Prous Institute – Overton and Meyer Award for New Technologies in Drug Discovery.
